It’s always nice to be asked to photograph a couples wedding, it’s even nicer when they have been referred by a previous client. Jenna and Glen emailed me last year to ask if I’d photograph their wedding at Wasing Park in Berkshire. I’d met them before as Jenna was a bridesmaid at Amy and Chris’s wedding which I photographed a few years ago. Amy was to be one of Jenna’s bridesmaids.
We met up one Sunday at their home to talk about their wedding plans and I immediately knew I was going to enjoy this wedding. They told me that they wanted a fun, relaxed wedding… and they wanted the photos to show this. I don’t remember them telling me that Chas, from Chas and Dave was to sing at their wedding…. the guy is a legend and suffice to say I was slightly excited when they told me on the day.
I arrived early to have a look around, as I hadn’t photographed at Wasing Park before. I was very impressed with the venue as it offered so many alternatives, a church if you want a religious ceremony, a ceremony barn if not and if you’re really lucky and it’s sunny and dry a Victorian Summerhouse for outdoor weddings. On Jenna and Glen’s wedding day it was sunny but the ground was slightly wet so they opted for the Barn Ceremony.
My glamorous assistant on the day was Soven from Amatya Photography. Soven is a lovely chap, a great photographer and a wonderful friend. He always makes sure that I’m well fed, well watered and looking smart 🙂 A bit like my Janet actually hmmmmmm
I have to mention a certain gentleman from the wedding, Phil Bultitude or as we named him “Uncle Bob”. Uncle Bob is an affectionate term that wedding photographers call ‘friends with cameras’ at weddings. Phil came up to me and introduced himself early on and shared his passion for photography too… I am sure he was eyeing up my 85mm 1.2 lens 😉 In all seriousness I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more smiley Father of the Bride. Such a nice man.
Before I leave you to enjoy the photos I have to mention the speeches… they were absolutely hilarious and totally unique. As I looked around the room watching for the guest reactions, family and friends were actually crying with laughter.
