A Wedding at the Bingham Hotel in Richmond: One of the first weddings I photographed many years ago was at the Bingham Hotel in Richmond so it was really cool going back and shooting Daisy and Ben’s wedding at this chic hotel on the edge of the Thames.
Daisy and Ben had chosen to get married at the Kensington and Chelsea Register Office so I had to wait a few hours before going to the Bingham. I started off coverage at the couples apartment in Pimlico before jumping in a black cab with Daisy, her Mum and Dad and heading off to the Kensington and Chelsea Register Office for the service.
After the wedding ceremony we all jumped on a London Route master bus, that the couple had hired, for the 8 mile trip to Richmond. For those unfamiliar with London, 8 miles could take 20 minutes or it could take 4 hours but on this day it was about 45 minutes. Enough time to get some photos of the guests relaxing and chatting.
We arrived at the Bingham, a 1740 Georgian hotel, in good time and all made our way down to the lawn. The Bingham is a very chic and stylish hotel and I can see why so many couples choose it for their wedding. With the added advantage of sitting right on the River Thames it has pretty much everything.
When my clients ask me to photograph their wedding day it’s generally because they want a mix of the documentary style, you know, photos of the guests without them realising and the big dramatic photos that I showcase on my homepage. Personally I love shooting both but I love the challenge of creating wedding photos that are different to the norm. Daisy and Ben were great and gave me enough time to get some really beautiful natural light photos and and also a few of my signature dramatic photos.
I think it’s safe to say that the wedding was a success and that everyone had a good time. I’d like to thank Daisy and Ben for asking me to photograph their wedding at the Bingham Hotel. Also a thanks to the staff at the Bingham for their hospitality and awesome food. Also a thanks to Csaba for helping on the day. Great to have you back with team Gomes 🙂
