The RSA House (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce) is such an exclusive London location for a wedding, located as it is just behind the Strand and so when I was asked to be the RSA House Wedding Photographer I jumped at the chance.
The bride Pam was the sister of Suzie for whom I was the wedding photographer in Notting Hill so it was lovely to see so many familiar faces again; I almost felt like family!
Doing the RSA House wedding photography is always exciting as this highly unique, listed building just oozes character and history. It’s a grand Georgian structure which is remarkable in its similarity to number 10 Downing Street on the outside and has in fact been used on location shoots for that very purpose. Inside the rooms offer a contemporary twist with many striking features such the large floor to ceiling windows in the Romney room which allows natural light to flood in and the romantic ambience of the original vaults.
Chris and Pam were to be wed at the St James Church just a short distance away from the RSA House. I arrived early to capture some pre-wedding shots of Pam looking calm and serene before she was whisked off to the church.
As a London wedding photographer I love doing the pre-bridal photography as it tells such an intimate, personal story and I can often capture the close bonds which exist between members of the bridal party and the pride that is reflected in their faces as they watch their loved one transform into the gorgeous bride.
We then travelled by bus to the RSA House in West London where I managed to grab the bride and groom for some simple yet elegant shots. That’s the best thing about RSA House weddings, there are so many rooms which offer such timeless backdrops and which set up the shots for me beautifully.
The wonderfully restored vaults created a hugely atmospheric location for the evening reception which was the perfect way to end a fabulous day.
Many thanks to Pam and Chris for once again welcoming me into the family and for asking me to be the RSA House Wedding Photographer. I hope to do many more weddings at the RSA House in London in the future. Please do browse through the selection of RSA House Wedding Photos.
