There is something about Notting Hill that just captures the very essence of London with all its charm, eccentricity and vibrancy. Whenever I visit I’m always struck by the quirkiness of the area reflected in the bustling little shops and stalls which are usually a hive of activity. Right in the heart of Notting Hill is the unusually titled Beach Blanket Babylon which, anywhere else would seem strange but here in this part of London, it seems to slot right in.
It was at the Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill where Suzie and Alex chose to celebrate their marriage after being wedded at the Chelsea Town Hall. I was extremely flattered to be called upon to be their Notting Hill wedding photographer; how could I resist when Suzie’s first telephone call to me was to rave about the photos she’d seen on my website?
I met up with Suzie and Alex before the wedding so that I could hear their plans and check out the wonderfully eccentric and gloriously eclectic Beach Blanket Babylon. I could see straight away that they had chosen a venue which suited their personalities; fun, exciting, unique and utterly charming. I knew straight away that this would be a wedding with a difference and I was certainly not wrong there!
A dramatic entrance was made by the couple singing the Bruno Mars hit “Marry Me” to great applause which got everybody in the mood for celebrating. The first dance was just as entertaining – no romantic slow steps for this couple, instead they both started showing off their impressive break dancing moves!
The very friendly staff at the Beach Blanket Babylon had pulled out all the stops to make this a day to remember for everyone involved. Hopefully you can tell from the wedding photographs just how much fun it was; I was able to capture many natural expressions and most of them were filled with joy and happiness.
As their Wedding Photographer I found it a real privilege to have been invited to witness such a celebration of love and marriage in such a unique and fun way. I very much look forward to meeting everyone again for Pam (Suzie’s sister) and Chris’ wedding at RSA House in December.
