As Country House wedding venues go, Gosfield Hall in Essex is up there as one of the very best in the UK (winner of Wedding Ideas Magazine ‘Best Wedding Venue’ 2011 and Essex Wedding Awards ‘Wedding Venue of the Year ). I also speak from experience having photographed a wedding at Gosfield Hall before and so I was looking forward to going back. Kara and Kevin got in touch I was pleased to be available. Kara and Kevin were actually recommended to me by a couple whose wedding I photographed last year at the Orangery in Kent. Always nice to be recommended so thank you to Gemma and Paul.
Gosfield Hall is that epic it even use to be a Royal residence, built in 1545 and set within acres of beautiful Essex countryside it’s the perfect wedding venue. So what makes a perfect wedding venue? Obviously the lush interior helps and the well kept gardens is another obvious choice but what sets a venue above all others is the staff. Kara and Kevin’s wedding coordinator on the day was Debbie, lovely lady and brilliant at her job.
Autumn and winter weddings have a certain charm to them that most couples are unaware of. Yes, it great to get married in the heat of the summer but it’s definitely worth considering October – March.
It was a real pleasure to spend the day with Kara and Kevin and their family and friends and be able to photograph such a lovely day. Kara was relaxed and calm from when I first met her during bridal prep through to when I said goodbye, late into the evening. I really got a sense that it was her perfect day. Kevin was a real gent and never once did either of them complain when I came up with another photography idea. 🙂
There are so many opportunities for creative wedding photography at Gosfield Hall I could have stayed all night but I ended the wedding with a rather different photo. You will see, it’s the last image on the blog. It was taken with a device called a Pixel Stick which I borrowed from another photographer, Peter Flowers. An interesting device, not sure I will buy one but still good fun as a one off… (unless I get a load of brides asking for something similar ha ha).
The Gomes Photography team at Kara and Kevin’s wedding was Peter Flowers, who kindly assisted me throughout the day and Mark Nortcliffe who I let loose with another camera. It was great working with you chaps.
A massive thanks to Kara and Kevin for asking me to photograph their wedding at Gosfield Hall. It really was an amazing day and you’re such a lovely couple and were a pleasure to work with.
Here’s their wedding day:
